Every Saturday in June at 1.30pm on Seven TWO join Queensland’s own celebrity chef Alastair McLeod on a unique culinary journey in Off the Eaten Track.
Alastair shares his passion for the parochial and explores our Sunshine State from the tropics to the outback revealing the passion of graziers, growers and fishers and the diversity of their produce.
From iconic Queensland mud crabs and mangoes to the more exotic avocado ice-cream and Australian Desert Limes, Off the Eaten Track will tantalize your taste buds.
Celebrate a feast of Atherton Tableland coffee, Chinchilla’s Murray cod, Rockhampton’s beef, Hervey Bay’s scallops, Ayr’s exotic achachas and buffalo mozzarella from Cairns. You can also see Gourmet Garden's herbs growing in Biloela.
This food journey of our state’s backyard also features a variety of local wineries and breweries and suggests how to match them perfectly with Queensland cuisine.

Double the antioxidant content of a salad by adding herbs & spices (December 2007)
A study from Australia’s Southern Cross University (SCU) has reported that salad dressings made with herbs and spices can more than double the antioxidant content of your regular salad and boost your daily nutritional intake in the process. Herbs and spices are an excellent way to boost your daily antioxidant intake. A recently published review of the health effects of herbs and spices, prepared by the Australian National Centre of Excellence in Functional Foods (NCEFF), concluded that the antioxidant capacity of herbs and spices compared very favourably with that of fruit and vegetables.
