We are delighted to announce the launch of our 2012 Guest Chef Program, where each month our profiled chef will provide delicious recipe ideas, tips and advice on cooking with herbs.

 

Chef JeanMarie BrownsonApril Guest Chef - JeanMarie Brownson

JeanMarie Brownson was born in Chicago to a family that enjoys cooking. JeanMarie worked at the Chicago Tribune as Test Kitchen Director for 16 years and is the editor of four cookbooks for the Tribune. She is the recipient of three writing awards from the Association of Food Journalists.

Brownson co-authored three cookbooks with Rick and Deann Bayless including “Rick Bayless’s Mexican Kitchen” (Scribner,1996), winner of  the Cookbook of the Year Award from the IACP Cookbook Awards, and Mexico—One Plate at a Time, winner of the James Beard Foundation’s International Cookbook Award (Scribner, 2000).

Brownson, Rick Bayless and Manny Valdes founded Frontera Foods, Inc., a gourmet Mexican specialty food company in 1996. As the company’s Culinary Director, she is in charge of all new product development, quality control and consumer educational materials.

JeanMarie’s food and cooking column, titled Dinner at Home, is currently featured twice monthly in the Chicago Tribune and nationwide in Tribune Company newspaper food sections. She is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, the International Association of Culinary Professionals and the Research Chefs Association

Chef Jennifer Bucko LamploughMarch Guest Chef - Jennifer Bucko Lamplough

Jennifer Bucko Lamplough is a Chef Instructor for the Robert Morris University Institute of Culinary Arts in Chicago, Aurora and Orland Park, Illinois.  Chef Jen is co-author with Lara Rondinelli, RD, LDN, CDE of two American Diabetes Association Cookbooks: the award-winning, best-selling, Healthy Calendar Diabetic Cooking and the Healthy Carb Diabetes Cookbook. (published under the name Chef Jennifer Bucko). She also contributes recipes regularly to the American Diabetes Association’s “Recipes for Healthy Living” web site and e-newsletter. Chef Jen has appeared as a guest chef on several television programs including WLS Channel 7 news, WGN Channel 9 news, NBC 5 Chicago news, and Total Living with Jerry Rose on the Total Living Network. She has also been a featured chef on several radio programs across the country, most notably the Living Today program on Martha Stewart Living Radio. She has done cooking demonstrations across the United States including the Taste of Chicago, the American Diabetes Association Expo, the International Association of Culinary Professionals Annual Conference, the Midwest Literary Festival and the Chicago Flower Garden Show.

Chef Joanne WeirFebruary Guest Chef - Chef Joanne Weir

Joanne Weir is a James Beard Award-winning cookbook author, cooking teacher, chef and host of the popular TV series “Joanne Weir’s Cooking Confidence” which airs nationally on PBS.  Her accompanying video-centric App, Joanne Weir’s Cooking Appetizers is also available. Weir has written 17 cookbooks, including the companion cookbook to her “Cooking Class” series, Wine Country Cooking, and Tequila: A Guide to Types, Flights, Cocktails and Bites. A fourth-generation professional cook, Joanne spent five years cooking with Alice Waters at Chez Panisse in Berkeley after receiving her Master Chef Diploma in France with Madeleine Kamman. Her ultimate calling has been teaching, as she travels and teaches cooking classes and takes students on culinary journeys along the Mediterranean as well as throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, South America, and England. Joanne is opening a restaurant in Sausalito, California called Copita Spring 2012.  She was recently named Culinary Editor at large of Fine Cooking magazine.  Joanne lives in San Francisco where she teaches cooking in her studio kitchen.

Chef Mark FarmerJanuary Guest Chef - Chef Mark Farmer

Mark Farmer was born in South Africa. He is a self-taught chef from Cape Town whose earliest memories of food are of the enjoyment of the delicious Sunday roasts that his father used to cook for the family.

Like most chefs, Mark has a love of good food. He is passionate about organic food, and besides the intensive health benefits of organic, Mark’s cooking is full of exquisite flavours, texture and colours.
